Does RME work? Productivity x Discretionary Effort x Internal Promotions x Skill Levels

Interviewing senior leaders for my upcoming book has many advantages.

This morning I asked a Plant Director if the Rapid Mass Engagement process in his factory had produced tangible results.

He told me:

  • Productivity went from 2-3% year on year to 15% for 5 successive years after implementation of RME

  • Leadership skill levels dramatically improved

  • Discretionary effort and internal promotions increased as artificial barriers were removed (a key design feature of RME) and employee trust in management increased

Leveraging a previously ineffective Operational Excellence programme, the quality of leadership and other factors also contributed to these results but he was clear of the tangible benefits of RME even if exact numerical causation is impossible in such multi-variant situations.
